Greetings from Patricia Highsmith Land, where ugly people, though often beautiful on the outside, kill ineptly, then gallumph away from the consequences. This story, a first cousin of
Strangers on a Train, is told with splendid atmospherics, on locations ranging from the Parthenon to Knossos to the Istanbul souk, but it all comes across as a bit half-baked.
