(1949)
Period piece set in New South Wales, 1831, shows some promise early on with
Hitchcock regulars
Jo Cotten and
Ingrid Bergman as a sort of
Heathcliff and desalinated Cathy (and, from a different story,
Margaret Leighton as a heterosexual Mrs.
Danvers), but
Michael Wilding is far too
simpy to suffice as the Other Man, and the story gets bogged down for about the last, oh, 6 or 7 hours.
